Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's understandable for concerns to be asked about his future following another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the club's poorest streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got significant backing from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a phase such as this with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
