The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Chose the Wrong Critical Role Song

This latest animated series, the newest animated adventure from Critical Role, unveiled an exciting introductory sequence. It features our favorite group of outcasts, outcasts, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while teasing at multiple heart-wrenching backstories for characters including the voice actor's mage Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the intro appears stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that something was missing in the music selection.

This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional composition created by artist the talented musician. It's a track from the official score of that title, the second one put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful nostalgic option, and I suspect that devotees of the second campaign will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the hype and energy that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", written by musician the artist, became an immediate hit for me when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it only got better when cast member Sam Riegel added lyrics to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Featuring vocals from one actress, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was catchy and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't seen the second campaign yet, but this was such an earworm that I kept it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you start an episode of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "the new song" fails to hit the same chords in my opinion. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of this party, I feel that its mood is a little off.

Of course, Critical Role has already said that the animated show will have a few surprises and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening seems to be among these.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from November 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to get to know the characters of the second series, the actual play are accessible on the audio platform and YouTube.
