NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates features live text for Sunday's games on various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, audio coverage can be heard on select stations covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week in the football calendar and following last week's discussion about two top teams being possible championship contenders, each lost their unbeaten records.

Notable in those games were the amount of penalties each conceded. The Eagles did so at crucial times so they essentially beat themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period versus Denver, who play in London this Sunday.

However it proved positive to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to have that deficit before direct three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, to win the victory by four points.

Denver boast the defensive player of the year with cornerback their star corner. They are first in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, yet Denver won that battle.

They had effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They weren't always sending more than four pass rushers instead they might plug two LBs in the interior then withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.

At the start of the season, we said during a show how the Broncos might emerge as this season's dark horses. They finished the previous year strongly then did a good job in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

New tight end Evan Engram has excelled big while new RB their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks 5th league-wide in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).

It's impressive how head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.

That shows how the Broncos represent a team that wants to run first, since you can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces down the pass rush and maintains in favourable situations.

This has benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs possess powerful arms to throw anywhere, but they don't move in the same way as Nix. He boasts incredible arm talent, which is different, and he is so athletic.

His strengths are his mobility, the capacity to throw on the run, as well as using varied release points to deliver the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He can deliver precision throws across the middle and over the corner.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got a lot of composure under pressure and is not really fazed by the blitz. He tries to avoid a sack as much as possible and can pass in tight spots. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.

When you constantly rush it consumes the clock and makes the opponent to stay on the field for longer, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the field downfield and horizontally. This proves exhausting.

The quarterback has pushed back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and I think the coach likes that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's exciting for him to coach a rookie QB that is kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really build something up the way he wants to shape him. I think it's a special experience for him.

Payton owns a championship and has surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. I think the success Denver are experiencing offensively is mostly down to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix helps shape him into who he is.

There's no better a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.

I believe in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team strong enough to face a top squad at full strength? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're working better than most, which is a solid position to hold their division. All they need to do is maintain this path.

They excel at leaning into their strength, that is the ground game, and this is precisely what they should do versus the New York Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad yet to win any game.

Ever since the league began tracking takeaways decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway through five games, this is kind of shocking considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator with another team.

Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.

Following the upcoming matchup, Denver face a manageable slate up to their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the division.

It depends upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
